Balmor Landing provides a comfortable and relaxing stay, offering guests the opportunity to unwind in a peaceful setting. The house has four bedrooms, sleeps 8 guests and is well-appointed with modern amenities, ensuring that every need is met. Our property has an orchard behind the house which is perfect for a relaxing stroll. The crown jewel is the view of our private beach from the front deck. It’s the perfect spot for your morning coffee.
Whether you're looking to spend quality time with family, check-out local attractions, need a base for your business trip or plan to enjoy a romantic escape, this retreat offers the perfect blend of comfort and tranquillity.
The Area: Upper North Sydney
Upper North Sydney is a small but vibrant community within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. It boasts a rich seafaring history and a strong sense of community, making it an ideal place to experience local culture. The town of North Sydney is a 5 min drive from our home. The city of Sydney is only 10 a minute drive. The immediate area is surrounded by natural beauty, with easy access to hiking trails, scenic drives, and waterfront views.
Some Must-Visit Attractions
Cape Breton Highlands National Park: Explore the stunning natural beauty of the park, with its hiking trails, waterfalls, and wildlife viewing opportunities. It's located at the tip of The Cabot Trail. (Depending on how often you stop, the National Park is about a 50-minute drive)
Cabot Trail: One of Canada's most scenic drives, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding countryside. Stop off and enjoy numerous local villages as you drive the trail. (30-minute drive to English Town, where you can join the trail)
Whale Watching Tours: Take a guided tour to spot whales and other marine life off the coast of Cape Breton. A quick google search will show you several options with operating days/times.
Fortress Of Louisbourg: Step back into an 18th century authentic French experience at the fortress. As a Parks Canada location, the historical detail, architecture and costumed guides will transport you to an early part of our European island history. (30-minute drive)
Beaches: We have many, from rocky to sandy! (one of the many benefits of being an island is our easy proximity to gorgeous coastal locations) Our closest local beaches are Florence, Kristy's and Groves Point Beaches. (each only 10-15 minutes’ drive from us). You'll find several gorgeous sandy beaches as you journey around The Cabot Trail. Ingonish beach is worth checking out! Chimney Corner is another favourite.
Golfing: If you like golf, boy are you in luck! We have some great courses. In fact, Seaview Golf and Country Club is a 2-minute drive from us. (It has some spectacular views) You also have The Lakes at Ben Eion, Lingan Golf Club, Cabot Links Golf Course, Dundee Resort & Golf Club, Baddeck Folks Golf Course, and many more.
